Karlsplatz (Stachus), Munich
65000 LEDs immerse the access area of the Stachus Passages in elegant, cool white light.
Karlsplatz, often called Stachus in the vernacular, is one of Munich's most famous squares and is known for its bustling life. Directly below are the Stachus Passages, the largest underground shopping centre in Europe with a total surface of around 7800 m2.
In order to visually distinguish the entrance area of the shopping centre, which also leads to the S-Bahn and U-Bahn stations, from the numerous ambient lights of Karlsplatz, an LED backlight was installed on the access stairs and the adjacent glass wall. Moreover, special oval optics for optimal illumination of the area was installed. In addition, the lighting of each staircase was individually planned and made.
